Last weekend, a group of students from Husson Esports collaborated to put together a 24 hour livestream for the gaming-centered charity Extra Life, a charity that raises money to support children's hospitals.

Throughout the 24 hour livestream, Husson Esports would raise $1,291 for the charity through donations from viewers of the stream.

"It felt really good to not only connect to a really good organization that's invested in esports, but also raise money for a really good cause," said Jarod Bolton, one of the students who helped to host and plan the stream. "A lot of us at Husson are proud about the opportunity to help and it was also just a lot of fun."

The livestream was hosted on Husson Esports' dedicated channel on Twitch.tv, and would start at 12PM on Saturday and would not shut off until 12PM on Sunday. Throughout, different students had pre-planned shifts at different times throughout the stream to make sure it ran smoothly.

These shifts included a wide variety of people and a wide variety of games, including a shift from midnight to 6AM by one of the groups, where they streamed Minecraft and Super Smash Bros in the early hours of Sunday morning.

"It was exhausting, and lots of coffee was required," said Nick Hoffman, one of the students during that 12AM to 6AM shift on Sunday. "But we had a lot of fun with it."

The stream would receive 887 views while live according to Twitch statistics, and the channel would gain 37 followers. Husson Esports plans to host another 24 hour charity livestream on their Twitch channel during the school's annual Giving Day event on April 5.
